ESG

our commitment to sustainable development

At Crowne Plaza® Warsaw – The HUB, our actions are based on a sustainable development plan that applies to the entire IHG® Hotels and Resorts network. In 2021, IHG® Hotels and Resorts launched “Journey to Tomorrow,” a series of ambitious commitments aimed at positively impacting our communities and the planet over the next decade.

We are convinced that investing in sustainability is not only a matter of social responsibility, but also a key element of our business strategy, bringing real benefits to the environment and local communities.

Environmental

At the Crowne Plaza Warsaw – The Hub hotel, we do respect the environment. In addition to the standard solutions adopted and disseminated over the years in the industry, such as the use of large bottles with reusable cosmetics in bathrooms in the rooms, replacing plastic straws with alternative ones made of biodegradable materials, or programs encouraging guests not to change their towels every day, we went a step further.

The excellent quality of public transport is guaranteed by the unique location of the hotel – in a multifunctional building in which there are both offices and a service area with shops, hotels and a conference center. The complex offers direct access to the second metro line, in the immediate vicinity there are bus and tram
lines, and even the SKM station. You can efficiently get to the station and the airport.

The company also complies with IHG Green Engage™, which provides hotels with
advanced building management capabilities and detailed energy consumption
statistics, and The Warsaw HUB complex is BREEAM certified, confirming the
sustainable development of buildings. The effect of the practice is reducing the
negative impact on the environment and acting in accordance with ecology.

As part of the IHG Green Engage system, we also conduct a number of activities directly reducing the negative impact on the environment. Thanks to an advanced building management system and keeping accurate energy consumption statistics, we are able to optimize many processes.
• we use energy-saving LED bulbs throughout the hotel
• our air-conditioning system works on the principle of recuperation, recovers warm air released from the building and vice versa
• the collected rainwater is used to flush toilets on the lower floors and to water the greenery

The hotel also holds the Green Key Certificate, an international eco-label awarded to tourism establishments that demonstrate a commitment to sustainable development and responsible environmental management.

In the hotel’s underground parking lot, there are charging stations for electric vehicles, and guests using bicycles can safely leave them in a secured parking area. Our hotel offers modern and comfortable bicycles, which are available free of charge (for up to 5 hours) to our guests. There are also many bike paths located near the hotel.

Social

There are electric car charging stations in the hotel’s underground car park, and
guests using bicycles can safely leave their vehicle in the closed parking lot. There are also city bike stations and many bicycle paths in the vicinity of the building.
We also place great emphasis on finding and using the services of local wholesalers and food producers from the vicinity, thus limiting logistics and supporting native suppliers specializing in organic farming and production.
Runaway Hens is a recognized ecological producer that supplies our hotel kitchen – Nova Wola with eggs and poultry. This farm can be proud of the „Organic Farming”
certificate – a certificate confirming its exceptional quality. We use the unique bakery products, Bread Everyone Different. Breads from this extraordinary bakery
are prepared from 15-year-old Zuławy sourdough, flour from small ecological mills and salt. All the fish at our breakfast come from a family farm located in a
picturesque town near Sieradz, famous for catfish breeding.

In 2022, the hotel completed the WELL Health-Safety Rating recertification process, which confirms that the solutions used in the building, procedures and
control of its systems are at the highest world level. The complex scored positively in 5 main areas: disinfection and cleaning procedures, emergency preparedness
plans, healthcare accessibility, air and water quality management, stakeholder engagement and communication. The action translates into the health safety of users and employees.

We ensure that our actions have an impact on the surrounding environment. Here are examples of our initiatives:

• Regular donations to organizations supporting animals. 20% of the fee for pets is donated by the hotel to the “Ratujemy Zwierzaki” Foundation.
• Commemoration and a series of educational events on the anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising.
• Regular visits to the St. Christopher’s Oncology Hospice Foundation in Warsaw, combined with themed dinners/lunches.
• Our actions have been included in the annually published report “Responsible Business in Poland. Best Practices,” the largest review of ESG, CSR, and sustainability initiatives in Poland. The 21st edition includes 1,705 best practices implemented by 272 companies in 2022.
